Site Recording Guide
Help to preserve our knowledge of First World War remains by researching and recording your local (WW1) Home Front sites, and submitting your data to your local Historic Environment Record online using our easy-to-use App. Home Front Legacy provide a Site Recording Guide which will teach you the skills you need to use the App to record the physical legacy of the First World War.
The Site Recording Guide features:-
- Practical information for planning and conducting your own field recording projects
- Seven ‘Toolbox talk’ training videos. These will introduce you to setting up and using the Home Front Legacy recording app, as well as site recording skills such as writing site descriptions and photographing your site
- Supporting notes to help you practice using the Home Front Legacy Recording app and a template for running your own Home Front Legacy training sessions

Simply register your recording project to start recording, register with the project on this website to access our online and mobile recording app, thesauri of First World War site and building material terms. The recording form is also available in electronic or paper format, with versions for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
